Death Sentence

Red coats forward
Willingly, begrudging acceptance
A marched straight line
The owners taking aim
From safety of the blind
Obedience to the shareholders
Coerced by needless necessity
Societally impressed, marketed
To the soul ragged drones
Hungered and destitute.
Reasoned then we volunteer
Wracking our bodies
Numbing our minds
For existence of what
For what?
Ten minutes of play with our children.
The deteriorating love of our spouse.
We the artists martyred
By our choices
To be punks in the machines
For bad food and obesity
For a speedy rush
To a small piece of real estate
Ad nauseous
A resting place
The reward
For what?
Time eternal ethereal waits
It can be stopped
And memory made

Identity Implicit

Over and over
Again and again and again
Misunderstood this love
Misunderstood
I am not here to requisition you
A mere commodity
One cannot requisition they who are truly free
I wish only to enable
A partnership of equals

And it stuck
Suddenly unchained
Burdens from the past
Those men and women who would merely own
Selfishly possessive of
This thing you offer
This thing I offer
Gone
Free to embrace
For love and laughter
For commerce and art
We are the truly blessed
But we know that now
Of course we do
I wonder what took it all so long

That God would see us learn
Of our own free will
To suffer and squander
Then reward
You understand now it is said
Be the one you two are meant to be
This force of nature
This example to all
Top billing and blessed

Mist

I watched your picture today
Looking intently into your eyes
Willing me there
Am I
Missed
At least I hoped I was
Cause I saw joy there
And sadness there
Known it was all for another
Missed
We wish for presence
I do
And this I shall
Confined by memories
Missed
The swell overwhelms
A soul so silent
What can will be
Fortunate distant unknown
In the mist
