The Drama Dairy

Welcome ladies and gentlemen
And thespians all
This is the farm of course
Where your craft it is honed
The crème de la crème
Only the best of the very
Will come to be, at the Drama Dairy

We invite you to dance
Be reckless, abandoned
Tap out your rhythm
Or hop your hips to repetitions
Or perhaps with grace and with poise
You may leave here a coryphée
Learned in the dance, of the Drama Dairy

Are you a singer
Or profess such to be
Can you hold the audience spellbound
To your musical oratory
We want you to love all
The passion, the poetry, and melody
Composition delivered, at the Drama Dairy

Will you paint, will you draw
Give expression to in-sight
What do you see and will you share
Hues and clues and patterned delight
From the raw gesso canvas
Or the natural sway in the masonry
Your visions are welcome, at the Drama Dairy

This is your theatre
Be it musical, drama, and fringe
Your expression is welcomed here
Reckless abandon abounds
Please give us reflection
Of the souls we common hold sway
Expose us to real life, at the Drama Dairy

We even do risqué
Vestal learners of arts
Swooning to the power of our parts
Chaste and focused lovers of craft
Will that be one hump or two?
And one hump of course you will say
After all, we are a Drama Dairy

Thank goodness for you all
We are but mere audience to your awe
Raised joy shared from your talents
Your stories your review
We bask in the colour
The movement and oratory
You, are this place of such joy

Tilted

Damn, that hurts
Perspective is askew now
And comfort is completely out of the zone
The angle dips left
And when glancing through the mirrors
The look points upward
Or if already up then flattened
Yes, yes, I do look quizzical
But really I just want to know
What the hell happened?

Down

Sweet dreams sweet darling
You are safe here with me
Let me wrap myself around you
To protect you from that cold

Canadian Bay

A lone swimmer glides through the salty waters
A place named for a far home
A nod to three who came to this mountain
To use their knowledge and strength
Experience from a northern land
To fell the ancient gums
To feed the mirage city on the horizon
Destroyers here for builders there

And it grew again, to thrive again

No dangers here bar depth and failure of body
The green rocks a landscape of life
Orange urchins and red stars
Living shells and jellies
We the fish live here foraging in schools
Evolving life to follow you to shore
To be so much more than mere vessels
To take a place among the false rulers

Will they thrive again, when we die again

These red cliffs are the face of a land
The oldest of stones have travelled the changing seas
And built ancient continents afloat,
Adrift across the entire face of this earth
We are the edge of the bight
Where life itself drew first breath from the seas
Iron faced bulwarks against eroding water
A land of cultures ancient beyond compare

We began again, through our birth again

The cool soothing waters glide over the swimmer
A land soul returned to the sea
Solace found there in a healing elixir
The water is as one joining this place
Across vast plains fluid and wondrous
A lineage joined across the planet
Reflections of childhood
It all ended here, On the Beach

We end here again, we will begin here again?

Solvent

The knack looks about his place
Decay follows him
A scent stasis in the nostrils of all who call
Held for time the festering aura
He searches and finds his essence
An old nag to break, she will do
A knife cut deep slashes hide from flesh
And makes a false coat, tanned for his warmth
She is left shivering, naked
And this brings him contentment as he goads
To pry flesh and sinew and muscle and fat
And organs and waste and lastly the heart
Laid bare exposed now festered raw

He will use these in his assault
The bones ground to fine dried dust
Set alight to fire his cauldron
And slowly he coaxes the flesh
From life through lifeless quivering mass
It bubbles and congeals animating verve into itself
And he removes warmth and ignores it cool
Hope fades, a wanton loss his destroying satisfaction
And fires anew to bring the mass to existence
Then reduction insult once again
And again and again
Till done, the body disembodied is granular
Pliable sand the distortion of its former

Time had passed to create this, stuck
Another trophy of his work
He applies it liberally to his mantle
And sets her feet into it
Walk he says, I challenge you
But you are knackered
Held triumphantly to his collection by this glue
Derivative formed from you
Stasis, inertia, bound

The simple, love takes up the tool
Slowly patiently pries inward from the edges
Sensing life in the soul
Warmth gives rise to meet warmth
Applied together melts the bond
Her feet can release from time
You could walk now
You can rise from your exhaustion
Step away from this render
But you must choose

Chap(ped) on Brunswick Street

I am an artiste
Look at me
My dark green felt beret
(cocked just so)
My bright purple shirt
Scuffed pointy shoes
And pee stained ochre pants
I suck on my cigarette
(through this pretentious holder)
I carry my battered leather bag
(with airs and authority)
And I piss upon all you stand for
Cause I see, you cannot see. Ha!

Evoke

stepping through the trials
a treasure beyond all
an offering should it be accepted
let there be no doubt
of course it must be
there is little choice
these scents overwhelm selfless act
an offering of sweet kisses
winked toward one’s eyes hues of creams
musk taste dew upon every lip
the rise upon bluff
a vision beyond compare
rose petals open will fully accept
the shared offering
music and rhythm and crescendo
taking energy making energy
passed back to each note
breathless and breathed
all senses aware
there they’re their each to own
in grateful dawn evoke
